Gina Wilhelm Actress - New York Actress Johansson Comes to Broadway
Scarlett Johansson is the latest Hollywood actor to come to Broadway. She'll be starring opposite Liev Schrieber in the revival of Arthur Miller's "A View From the Bridge."
Johansson, who was born in New York, will play Schrieber's 17-year-old niece. Previews for the play will begin December 28, and the show is set to run 14 weeks.
Strong sales this season on Broadway are being credited to high-profile screen actors like Johansson appearing on stage.
Some producers say having Hollywood stars in a play are essential to ensuring profits on Broadway.

Tiffany Giddes has been in a wheelchair
for eight years, but she's been anything but sedentary. Now she's on her way to Hollywood to become an actress in a wheelchair.
That's different than a "wheelchair actress".
Giddes explains, "I got tired of seeing people who weren't disabled play people in a wheelchair," she says. "Why not have an actress in a wheelchair who doesn't stand up and go home at the end of the day?
"I think they need someone like me, who really lives the role."

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is having a special celebration for the 50th anniversary of the Douglas Sirk/Ross Hunter film "Imitation of Life" on Friday.
They will be showing the final Sirk/Hunter collaboration at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Hollywood.
The movie is based on a 1933 novel by Fannie Hurst and is a remake of a 1934 film by the same name.
The story revolves around an actress, played by Lana Turner, who has no time for her daughter and the actress' housekeeper whose own daughter, who is light-skinned, tries to pass for white.
The Sirk/Hunter deals particularly with a woman more focused on her career than on getting married, which was a radical idea for the time.
Juanita Moore, who played the housekeeper, and Susan Kohner, who portrayed her daughter, both received Oscar nominations for their work in the movie.
The event will feature a new print of the film. Actresses Moore and Kohner, who have remained close since the movie, will also discuss the film with Kohner's filmmaker sons.

Victoria Cyr is a Grown Up
Victoria Cyr doesn't know why the producers of the movie "Grown Ups" cast her. "You always kind of wonder."
She isn't complaining, though.
Cyr plays the niece of a basketball coach who has died. Several people have come back to their hometown for the funeral.
Those home comers are played by Adam Sandler, Maya Rudolph, Chris Rock, and a handful of other Saturday Night Live alumni.
Cyr describes her part as a "plum role."
She already filmed the funeral scene, which she said was difficult, as the veteran comedians would keep cracking jokes between takes.
"It was hard to keep a straight face," she said.
Cyr made the decision 14 years ago to pursue acting. She decided to follow her dreams.
She moved to Hollywood, but decided to return to Beverly Farms, MA, because she hated the traffic there, among other things. Also, her "beau" lived in Massachusetts.
She still manages to find acting work, despite living so far from Hollywood.
Tax breaks draw many films to be shot in Massachusetts. Additionally, she lives close enough to New York that she can go there for work.
She also sends audition tapes electronically to Hollywood.
She has been known to get roles through sheer determination. She followed the filming of one movie for two years because there was a role in it she was sure was perfect for her.
Eventually she was able to get and audition and landed the role.

Writer-director Maiwenn's latest film is "All About Actresses." In it, her star-studded cast balances tenuously between hilarity and despair.
The French movie features musical-comedy sequences in which the actresses sing about their travails.
The conceit of the film is that Maiwenn is trying to film a documentary about her actress friends and focuses on her sessions with each woman, each with her own set of bizarre quirks.
Julie Depardieu farms chickens in the courtyard of her Paris home, while Jeanne Balibar attacks her director with a boom mic.
There are also tales of plastic surgery gone wrong and Karin Viard tries to break into Hollywood with a terrible accent.
It looks like a fun French take on one of my favorite subjects.
