Janine Turner, star of "Friday Night Lights" and former star of "Northern Exposure" gave a talk for single parents during church services this weekend.


She spoke for about a half-hour at PromiseLand West Church in Austin, TX. She also sang two songs with her 11-year-old daughter, who helped her write them.


Turner recently wrote a book about single mothers called "Holding Her Head High: 12 Single Mothers Who Championed Their Children and Changed History."


Texas First Lady, Anita Perry, called Turner an "incredible actress" who arranges her filming schedule so she can be home at night to take care of her daughter.


Turner's message resonated with the single parents in attendance at Sunday's service.
