With two months left until awards season, Maryann Johnson of film.com is already handicapping Best Actress contenders.
One of her top picks is Spanish-born Penélope Cruz for "Broken Embraces," her latest film with Pedro Almodóvar.
In the movie, she plays an actress and gets to "morph between characters within characters," which Johnson says the motion picture academy loves.
