Despite her win at the Golden Globes for best actress in a comedy or musical, Sally Hawkins was left off the list of nominees for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts award for the best actress.

Instead, Kate Winslet received two nominations, one for "The Reader" and one for "Revolutionary Road."

Winslet won Golden Globes for both movies, but she was nominated as a lead actress for "Road" and as a supporting actress for "The Reader."

Sally Hawkins' performance had been widely hailed and is considered to be a top contender for a lead actress Oscar for her performance in "Happy-Go-Lucky." Roger Ebert had called her "a joy to behold."

Her director for the movie, Mike Leigh, was also left out of the nominations.
